WHAT'S YOUR TYRE SIZE?

ARE YOU TYRES LEGAL?

On the sidewall of your tyres you will find all information we need in order to supply you with the correct tyre.

The legal limit for tyres is 1.6mm across the centre 3/4's of tread. Failure to comply with these rules could result with points on your license and a hefty fine.

   Important Tyre Information

  • The minimum legal limit for tyre tread depth is 1.6mm across the central ¾ of the tread, however most tyre manufactures advise replacing the tyre when it gets to 3mm as this is the point where the performance starts to exponentially diminish. As a rule the more tyre tread, the more grip you have, helping to disperse water to prevent aqua planing, maximising steering control and to minimise braking distances keeping you safe on the road.

  • A quick and easy check you can do to check your tyre tread wear is to compare your tyre tread against the raised rubber indicators. If your tyre tread is worn level with the bars then a replacement is recommended as this shows the tyre tread to be at 2mm..

  • Ensuring you have the correct tyre pressures will ensure the handling and safety of your vehicle, prolong your tyres life as well as helping to reduce your fuel consumption, as under inflated tyres will create more drag and therefor require more fuel to maintain speed, saving you money.

  • You should regularly inspect your tyres for any excessive wear and visual damage such as cuts, bulges and tears.
